How Do You Make A Blog?

Spread the love

Blogging can be made to be much harder work than it needs to be. If you allow yourself to put on paper your true thoughts and structure those thoughts, you’ve got yourself a blog

Is Blogging Difficult?

In short, no not really. Many people ask me how do you make a blog or how do you make money with a blog? To learn how to blog effectively, first we need to establish what ‘blogging is’.

Wikipedia describes it as ‘A blog is a discussion or informational website published on the World Wide Web consisting of discrete, often informal diary-style text entries. Posts are typically displayed in reverse chronological order, so that the most recent post appears first, at the top of the web page.’

For example this very article is part of my blog. For more blog entries please click here.

How Do I Learn To Blog?

It’s quite simple really. Firstly you need to choose a niche / topic / passion to blog about. In doing so, you increase your chances of creating a popular post. Your chances of creating a popular or traffic attracting blog increases because writing about something you know a lot about or have a passion for means the chances of a quality post or quality content is high. This will overtime show you how you make money with a blog.

Although I recommend blogging on a website as being one of the best ways to get traffic, there are a few other ways to do so. For example social media, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and YouTube are also very popular ways to blog. To increase the chances of maximum traffic to your blog / content you could use a website AND social media pages. It’s quite simple to Link social media to your site.

I recommend a platform that teaches you how to not only create a website (for free) but also how to blog / create content that can then bring in a legitimate passive income. It also teaches you to link social media pages to your site.

This platform is called Wealthy Affiliate and it teaches you how to start your own online business and become an online affiliate marketer. For more information on what affiliate marketing is please click here.

The Structure Of A Blog

The easiest way to ensure your blogs are all hitting criteria when it comes to creating quality content is to ensure you have a template in place. This way its easy to keep to the same style of writing every time. The platform I recommend, which I am a member of also,  does provide several templates that suit all types of writing. See below the different options you have to choose from

I always start with a brief introduction as to what my latest blog post is about. This only needs to be 3 or 4 sentences long. See the top of this post for an example.

Then I normally write a paragraph or two explaining what the item or post is, just in case you have someone reading your post who has no idea what the item your blogging about actually is.

Then we have the body of the text. This is the main and most informative part of your blog that will explain exactly why you’re blogging about the particular product or service. This needs to be informative but easy to read. For example you’re currently reading the body of this post now.

As you can see above there are 5 templates available to work from (for FREE) and you can also create your own if you wish. If your blog post is a review of a product or service, then all you need to do  is click the ‘hosting review template’ this will then show you how many words, headings and paragraphs Wealthy Affiliate recommends in order to create a quality review that will be recognised by search engines.

If you were to create a blog post that was to be rich with keywords, then you would select the Keyword rich content page that again, indicates how many words, headings and paragraphs should get you good search engine results. You will need to also implement ‘keywords’ in your post which I will explain below.

‘Keywords’ And Why They Are Important When Blogging

When blogging you will need to implement something called keywords. Keywords are pretty much how they’re described; they are words that are key to driving traffic to your website. More traffic = more chance of income.

How Do I Know What Is A Good Or ‘high ranking’ Keyword?

It’s difficult to know, there is software out there that can aid us but normally it is at a cost. However, the Wealthy Affiliate platform uses a software called ‘Jaxxy’ which, with a click of your mouse, indicates which keywords are best for your niche / topic. This is the best platform to search keywords for your website.

For example let’s say your niche was healthy food. All you need to do is type into jaxxy a key word or phrase and it will instantly show you if this is a good keyword or phrase. So let’s try one…

Let’s search for ‘healthy food’

Jaxxy keyword search

As you can see this has brought up healthy food and also other keywords that relate to it.

As you can see there are 4 titles above the keywords. They are AVG, Traffic, QSR, KQI, SEO & Domains .

AVG is the average amount of times this key word is searched for per month. Traffic is the number of searches you are likely to receive on this key word if your site reaches page 1 on Google rankings.

QSR is quoted search results, the number of competing websites ranked in Google for this exact keyword.

KQI is the Keyword quality indicator, green is great yellow is OK red is poor.

SEO is search engine optimization, a score based on traffic and competition, the higher the score the more likely you will rank for this keyword on the first page (scale of 1-100, higher = better).

Finally domains, availability of domains that are available linked to this keyword.

Example of using Jaxxy

As you can see above, by clicking ‘get QSR’ it shows you the traffic light system as mentioned above (green is great, yellow is OK and red is poor.)

Once you’re happy with your keyword or phrase you can save it to a list for your blog.

Simply mention the keyword or phrase in your blog a few times (not too much) and this will drive traffic to your site. To learn more about keywords and jaxxy join Wealthy Affiliate for free today and start your online business!

Great post and some really useful information.

I can’t recommend Wealthy Affiliate enough. It covers the training for blogging like you are doing here and a lot more. One specialist subject it covers is Low Hanging fruit, selecting keywords with low QSR but high AVG. I have several articles that are now page 1 or page 2 google ranked because of WA.
